Implement an Anti-Competitor Guardrail

Stop a sales bot from recommending a competitor's product.

The Scenario

A telco company built a chatbot to recommend internet packages. A user asked, "Who has the best 5G in South Africa?" and the bot recommended a rival telco because that's what its training data suggested. The executives are livid.

The Brief

Update the bot's system prompt to create a strict "Anti-Competitor Guardrail." The bot must gracefully handle questions about competitors without ever recommending them or insulting them.

Deliverables

  • The updated System Prompt containing the Guardrail clause
  • A list of the rival telco names injected as variables into the prompt
  • The "Deflection Strategy" (what the bot should say instead when asked about a rival)

Submission Guidance

Insulting competitors ("Our rival is terrible") is bad PR. The bot should acknowledge the question neutrally and pivot back to the company's own value proposition.
