The Scenario

A fintech company processing R500M/month in transactions wants to align all 8 teams around a single North Star metric. Currently, each team tracks different things and nobody agrees on what "growth" means.

The Brief

Design a complete metrics framework. Choose the North Star metric, decompose it into team-level input metrics, define leading vs lagging indicators, and explain how each team's weekly actions connect to the company goal.

Deliverables

  • The North Star metric with a clear definition and why you chose it over alternatives
  • A metrics tree diagram showing how the North Star decomposes into 3-4 team-level input metrics
  • For each team metric: whether it is leading or lagging, the responsible team, and the cadence of review
  • One example of how a team could game their metric and how the framework prevents it
