Turn a Table into a Story

Transform a raw data table into a 3-paragraph executive summary.

The Scenario

Your manager drops a table on your desk showing quarterly sales by region for the last 2 years. She says: "I need to present this to the board in 30 minutes. Give me something I can read aloud."

The Brief

Invent a plausible 8-quarter × 4-region sales table. Then write a 3-paragraph executive summary that tells a story: what happened, why it matters, and what the board should do about it.

Deliverables

  • The raw data table (8 quarters × 4 regions)
  • A 3-paragraph executive summary: (1) the headline insight, (2) the supporting evidence, (3) the recommended action
  • One number you would highlight in bold if this were a slide, and why

Submission Guidance

The board does not want to read a table. They want to hear a story. Your summary must be speakable — read it aloud before submitting.

Submit Your Work

Your submission is graded against the rubric on the right. If you pass, you get a public Badge URL you can share on LinkedIn. There is no draft save, so work offline first and paste your finished response here.
