Migrate to SSR / SSG for LCP

Architect a transition from a slow Single Page App to Next.js for maximum performance.

The Scenario

A high-traffic e-commerce storefront was built as a traditional React Single Page Application (SPA). The marketing team is furious because SEO rankings are dropping, and the Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) is over 5 seconds because the browser has to download a massive JS bundle before it can even request the product data from the API.

The Brief

Write a technical migration plan to move the critical pages (Home, Product Listing, Product Details) to a framework like Next.js. You must decide and justify the rendering strategy (Static Site Generation, Server-Side Rendering, or Incremental Static Regeneration) for each specific page type based on data freshness requirements vs. performance.

Deliverables

  • The chosen rendering strategy for the 1) Home Page, 2) Product Details Page, and 3) User Cart/Checkout, with strong technical justifications
  • A code snippet showing how the Product Details page would fetch its data (e.g., `getStaticProps` vs `getServerSideProps` or React Server Components)
  • A strategy for handling the transition without breaking existing URLs (redirects/routing)

Submission Guidance

This is an architectural task. There is no single "right" answer for the Product Details page - your justification of the trade-offs between SSG/ISR (speed but stale data) and SSR (fresh data but slower TTFB) is what earns points.

Submit Your Work

Your submission is graded against the rubric on the right. If you pass, you get a public Badge URL you can share on LinkedIn. There is no draft save, so work offline first and paste your finished response here.
