A company with 200 employees processes leave requests manually: employees email their manager, the manager forwards to HR, HR checks the leave balance in a spreadsheet, then emails approval or rejection. It takes 3-5 days.
The Brief
Document this as-is process using BPMN notation. Identify the actors, decision points, and pain points.
Deliverables
- A BPMN process diagram (described in text or drawn) with swim lanes for Employee, Manager, and HR
- A list of at least 4 pain points in the current process with evidence
- Process metrics: estimated cycle time, number of handoffs, and manual steps
Submission Guidance
BPMN has specific symbols: rectangles for tasks, diamonds for gateways, circles for start/end events. Use them correctly even in a text description.
