A payroll system upgrade is entering UAT. 15 business users from HR and Finance will test over 2 weeks. The project manager needs a structured UAT plan and a defect management process.
The Brief
Write a complete UAT plan including scope, entry/exit criteria, test schedule, and a defect triage process with severity classifications.
Deliverables
- A UAT plan: scope, objectives, assumptions, entry criteria (what must be true before UAT starts)
- Exit criteria: what constitutes a successful UAT (e.g., "zero Critical defects, fewer than 3 Major")
- A defect triage process: severity levels (Critical/Major/Minor/Cosmetic), SLA for each, and escalation path

Entry criteria prevent wasted effort. If the system crashes on login, UAT should not start. Exit criteria prevent premature go-live. Show both gates.
