The Scenario

A growing fintech product team has 3 designers and 12 engineers. They do ad hoc user research — sometimes a lot, sometimes none. The Head of Product wants a structured research programme that runs continuously.

The Brief

Design a quarterly research programme. Cover recruitment, method selection per question type, tooling, research repository, and how findings get to engineers who do not attend sessions.

Deliverables

  • A quarterly research calendar with research type (discovery, evaluative, continuous) mapped to product milestones
  • A method-selection guide: which research method for which question type (table format)
  • A participant recruitment strategy: panel management, incentives, screening criteria, and diversity requirements
  • A knowledge management plan: how findings are stored, tagged, and surfaced to the team
