Write a User Interview Script

Write a 20-minute interview script to understand how students choose online courses.

The Scenario

An edtech startup wants to understand why university students choose certain online courses over others. The product team needs to interview 8 students. You have been asked to write the interview script.

The Brief

Write a structured interview script for a 20-minute session. Include an introduction, warm-up questions, core questions, and a wrap-up. The script should avoid leading questions.

Deliverables

  • An interview script with: intro/consent (2 min), warm-up (3 min), core questions (12 min), wrap-up (3 min)
  • At least 8 core questions, none of which are leading or closed-ended
  • Two follow-up prompts per core question (how to dig deeper if the answer is vague)

Submission Guidance

"Do you find it hard to choose courses?" is a leading question. "Tell me about the last time you signed up for an online course" is not. Show you know the difference.

Submit Your Work

Your submission is graded against the rubric on the right. If you pass, you get a public Badge URL you can share on LinkedIn. There is no draft save, so work offline first and paste your finished response here.
