Affinity Mapping from Interview Notes

Synthesise 6 fictional interview transcripts into an affinity map and 3 insights.

The Scenario

The research team has completed 6 interviews with users of a fitness app. You have been given summarised notes from each session. Your job is to find the patterns.

The Brief

Invent 6 plausible interview summaries (5-8 bullet points each). Then synthesise them into an affinity map — group related observations, label the clusters, and extract 3 actionable product insights.

Deliverables

  • Six fictional interview summaries with realistic observations (mix of positive, negative, and surprising)
  • An affinity map structure: at least 5 clusters with labels and the observations sorted into each
  • Three product insights derived from the clusters, each with a "so what" implication for the product team

Submission Guidance

An insight is not an observation. "5 out of 6 users forgot to log workouts" is an observation. "Users treat logging as a chore, not a reward — the app should auto-detect activity" is an insight.

Submit Your Work

Your submission is graded against the rubric on the right. If you pass, you get a public Badge URL you can share on LinkedIn. There is no draft save, so work offline first and paste your finished response here.
