Build a plan to grow an online community from 0 to 500 engaged members.

The Scenario

A South African fitness brand wants to launch a WhatsApp Community (or Discord server) for their customers. The goal is 500 engaged members in 90 days. They currently have an email list of 8,000 and Instagram following of 15,000.

The Brief

Design a community launch strategy. Cover the platform choice, the seed member recruitment, the engagement model, and the moderation plan.

Deliverables

  • Platform recommendation (WhatsApp, Discord, Facebook Group, etc.) with pros/cons for this specific brand
  • A 90-day launch plan in 3 phases: Seed (Day 1-14), Grow (Day 15-45), Sustain (Day 46-90)
  • An engagement model: what content the community produces, who posts, and how often
  • A moderation framework: rules, moderator roles, and how to handle toxic behaviour
